Slow mouse in Q3 on Linux operating system..

Hi all,
Firstly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, to those who follow it
Has anyone come across a problem whereby both in the game's menus and in game the mouse is very slow, and 'drunk' maybe, like you move your hand and then about a millisecond later the cursor races across the screen to catch up. Essentially, although both games load they are totally unplayable, the 3d is working, but the mouse is too slow to react and then, like, accelerates to the point whereby you moved the mouse too...
This happens in both Q3 and Wolfenstein, and if anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. Both games run fine under Windows 2k with the same machine, but trying to get them to work with Ubuntu is proving a pain. :icon23:
