Hi all, I'm looking for some help on a new install of Q3 on a spare PC I just put together. The specs are as follows. P3 800mhz, 640mgs of PC133 RAM, GeForce FX 5200 w/latest drivers, Directx 9.0, TDK CDRW 48x optical drive. All running on Window ME. (insert laughter here) Didn't wanna bog down the system by installing XP. So anyhow, when I go to run Q3 is dogs like hell. Even on the title screen. It seems like I'm getting negative FPS, lol. It honestly runs that slow. I don't even bother going past the title screen because of that. Any help?

do other games run fine?
download and update your motherboard drivers .. you may be using the default WinMe drivers which suck dogs

The 5200 is slow but not that slow. Is OpenGL properly configured in the NVIDIA drivers and how do other OpenGL applications run?

it is a good idea to shut down programs you don't need running in the background while trying to play.

Windows ME is not a very good idea. Worst OS that MS has ever made. Make sure all your drivers are up to date from the vendors website, and not from the install disks that came with the system.

Truth. If you must go that route, at least run 98se which is more stable. Or possibly Windows 2000.
