Heading into 2007, Hollywood's movers and shakers are quietly confident that the next 12 months will prove to be the biggest yet. Looking at the line-up of studio behemoths, it's hard to disagree. Next year's releases include Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (all coming out in May), as well as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Simpsons Movie, and Transformers, to name but a few.

It just so happens that all the sequels look very promising :icon14:
There's been a South Park and a Family Guy movie. Why not Simpsons?

Or the Harry Potter films?
Or POTC 1 and 2?

spiderman - meh
harry potter - meh
butt pirates of the gayrribean - wank, savvy?
simpsons - amusing but 17 TV seasons is enough thanks
transformers - IT'S A KIDS' TOY
this "great year for films" is just a product of studio execs taking the safe, unadventurous option, going with whatever made them money before

"Next year's releases include Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (all coming out in May), as well as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Simpsons Movie, and Transformers"
So the third in the series of Spider Man, Shrek, and POTC, as well as a film of a 15-year-old cartoon, and a film of a 20-year-old cartoon.
Seriously though, if they're naming those as examples of how 2007 is going to be good for films, they're fucking delusional. Original titles from heavyweight directors and studios, sure. Old franchises and sequels? Lol, no. Those are what defined 2006 as a fairly shitty year for film.

Not every film needs to be deep and gritty. All i want is something easy to watch and that is entertaining. These will do exactly that whilst throwning some Keira Knightly into the mix.
Huzzah.
The Number 23 looks promising should you wish to look for something gritty. Also The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford looks good.
Smokin' Aces, Ghost Rider, Zodiac, 300, Shooter, Hot Fuzz, 28 Weeks Later, Ocean's Thirteen, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Live Free or Die Hard all have potential.

spiderman - i liked the 2 so faar but there is no venom in 3 ? just the symbiont(sp?) ?! so its sandman :\ and (hob?)goblin
harry potter - meh²
butt pirates of the gayrribean - well the first was entertaining for a movie after a joy ride.. second is total crappy cash cow "lets do a trilogy" turd like the matrix went down the shitter
simpsons - well saw the latest episodes which i liked after skipping a few seasons cause they where totaly boring.. if the film is like the new episodes it could be nice.. but i rather have futurama back
transformers - we'll if this would be a movie about the classic transformer i grew up with that would be nice.. but thoose overdesigned soulless new looks.. mehh

There's nothing wrong with blockbusters, but if you're a lover of cinema you should get into more Indie movies.
