Ok dudes, there is lame problem with my right click menu that i just can't seem to fix. When i double click on a folder it does not open. Insead a search window opens. Right clicking on the folder brings up a menu with the search command at the top, in bold(where the open command sholud be.) For 2 hours i've been sifting through the through prefences, trouble shooting help topics, and control panel land...any help help with this would be greatly appreciated.
*hmmm*

I don't have an exact answer to your problem.
What does your Folder Options, File types {tab}, Folder look like?
Click Advanced button.
Click me for example
----DivX [727k] Right click save as
My view may be different from yours with PrintFolder but I'm really
just curious what yours looks like?
I may be totally off-base on this but it's a thought.

Both of the above posts nailed it, because what's happened is:
1. Search hs become your default action on a given file.
2. This is most likely due to a virus infection.
TBH your best bet is to reformat if you can spare the time and have any other reasons to do it anyway. If not, I suspect the 'edit file type' dialog Piece posted is the correct place to remedy the problem, but that the default 'open' action which you are trying to restore is not in fact restorable via that dialog. You'll either have to google quite a lot, or re-install.
No but really, re-install.
