Q4 gametype issues, possible addon conf problem?

I have problems getting a map to run from the create server menu in any other gametype but DM. The level appears in tourny and TDM selection but the console reports my map is not compatible with those modes if I attempt to load it.
I have had this issue before with a CTF level. The solution then was to not use the addon conf thingy but to revert to the original def set up. Is anybody else finding this? If not could I have a look at your addon set up please?
It of course could be because I am missing something with my spawns maybe in the map, maybe a key I need to set for different gametypes?
While I am on that subject, does a level being set up for TDM require team spawns for Q4, or will normal info_player_deathmatch spawn point suffice?
Any help appreciated...running out of time:)

Just to add to this, in all the recent Q4 levels I have d/led that use the addon.conf, the only gametype that loads is DM. Either we are all doing something wrong or this doesnt work.

Everybody uses dedicated servers, so this mostly goes unnoticed.. But yes: even though the maps show up in the correct listing in the "create server" menu, they will not actually launch.

No its doesn't go "unnoticed", we're fully aware of many of these bugs. Its just we know we don't have a chance of id software fixing them, and many other bugs take priority.

I wouldn't rule out hope yet. We have been looking into the addon pak system in an attempt to resolve these issues.

OK. So please clarify, for map submissions how would you prefer the file set up in the pk4s? With addon.conf or not? I am kind of assuming you guys will run the maps on a server so this wont be an issue. For level designers testing our levels this is a bit of a pain though.
