I'm about to replace my KT7 (Via KT133) with a ECS K75SA (SiS735). Old stuff, I know.
Is it safe to just turn off the pc, replace the mobo, and then boot? Or will there be some kind of driver conflict if I do that? I'm running winxp SP2.

well, you see, it's not just a few drivers you're talking about. It's busses and chipsets and architecture differences which are kind of big picture stuff for an OS.
I'm not one to brag but I've fucked up an install or two by trying to swap hard disks between different PC's.
It's also worked for me once or twice. But even so, it's kind of like wiping back to front, some things don't un- or re-install very cleanly.
You don't want to give your pc a dirty vagina, do you?

Even if it boots successfully, windows activation will fail and you'll have to ring them up to get it re-activated.

Maybe I'll try this and report back.

When I swapped out my Intel 865GBF for an ASUS P5P800SE, all I needed to do was a quick and simple repair installation. I doubt Windows will even start when you're swapping completely different models.
