Hello and welcome to Q3World!
So you've read thru the stickies the moderators and users compiled for new players?
First question would be, "What version of Q3 are you running?....?....?"
Second would be what version are your friends running????
You all need to be on the same version of Q3 to have as little problems
as possible to play together.
To be honest I didn't remember what the awaiting gamestate meant
when I read your problem. But I did do a 5 second search thru the
forums for
awaiting gamestate. Read thru the results and
figured I'd ask you about your version.
I'm trying to help you, help yourself, is all I'm trying to say.
Alot of very new players are coming into these forums and asking
questions that are getting asked over and over and over and over again.
Without bothering to search thru the forums a bit.
I understand the immediate need for a game to be working!
Just take my words as advice is what I'm saying.
and again welcome to Q3W!
Edit: ug.... I can't even click on preview and check for typos before
posting. How am I supposed to help someone if I can't help myself? LOL!

bah vpn clients...
do it over Lan, get a few ethernet cords and ports n shit or failing that, go wireless.
You click multiplayer, then create. I can never trust thirdparty Quake server software.
