TBH, I feel a geek saying this, but I would pay just for the movies... The actual "movie" side of the game looks very well done and has a shit load of big name actors in them...

It looks a LOT like the old school C&C games just in 3d, which is what Generals should of been.

I'll grab the demo for the actual game play but it doesn't look half bad, even if some things could be a little more polished.

Generals wasn't as bad as anyone made out. The RTS genre as a whole suffers from something similar to the FPS genre where multiplayer is the most appealing element of the game, but the state of online competition is so high that it's no fun to get started in a new game.

Aside from that issue, the graphics were solid, the balance was about right, even the expansion complemented the game quite well without trashing anything. The singleplayer campaigns never had me interested but they seemed fine also.

Actually my biggest gripe with Generals was the whole "Hey look slow mo" thing if I remember right, its been a good 5 years now...

You mean the 'cutscene' stuff in singleplayer like with the dam breaking and all that? Because that was pretty gash, yeah.

I'd kinda like to see a literal remake of C&C... going as far as recreating the exact art style but with up-to-date tech. All the units and buildings in the original C&C were fantastic and I think they'd translate to 3d really well.

Actually, Generals was an awesome multiplayer game.

I still play it occasionally with friends.

Played it for months when I was in student digs.

Found that the balance kind of fell apart one you became really accomplished with a particular army. You'd get to the point where it'd just be a race to build so many nukes that you could take out the entire map.

LOOK OUT FOO, INCOMING CHINOOK RIGHT TOWARDS YOUR CONYARD.

Seriously that conyard should have been far better defended

A lot should have been tighter about my game mate... I don't have the kind of pedigree in RTS as I have in FPS. Try to catch me out in a decent Q3 1v1 and you'll be hard pressed.. but in RTS I'm all newb, all the time.

Jelus?

Exactly the other way around as long as it doesn't come to fucking balance triangle like age of empires etc. I like to sneak around and hit at a crucial point circumventing defence along the way.
If you knew about it you wouldn't have been caught off guard.

Hmmm.... I'm a big age of empires fan, pretty much the only rts I've played long times.

How's this game anyway? People been saying it feels like old school c&c

There are some nostalgic touches to it which remind you of the old C&C days. The interface is very similar, be it revamped and polished. From what i've played of it so far its brilliant to control and watch, far better than supreme commander.. (imo)

Yep fantastic game. It's really like the first 2 cnc games rolled into one. The fmv's are really nicely done and fun to watch. :)

The ai can be brutal on hard though. Doomer have you attempted to play this on hard?
