so i use to map in q3a, now i want to start mapping again and get serious with it.

i downloaded and installed GTK Radiant 1.40 and its all good, until i make a testroom and try and load it inside quake3, it goes to the screen saying ' Loading TestRoom1 ' and just goes back to main menu!

and when i enter a normal map (eg, q3dm17) and then try and go to my testroom1 map t says could not be found (i put it in baseq3 like usual with all maps, and its .bsp)

once after a few hours of defrag on b4p server i tried loadng the map from inside the sevrer and it loaded but not quite properly, it loaded everything black the onlytihng normal i could see was the HUD and my wepon model.. everything else was black!
i have set (or it was auto set) that all .bsp file are opened with Half-Life2 i dont think it should make a difffernence but since i never played half likfe too and file assosiations might be causing this ..

A) how do i delete the file assosiation (i have deleted HL2 from my pc) and B) if its not the file assosiation What could it be??

any ideas?? plz reply!

Wait, i remembered i forgot to do sv_pure 0 lol

so now the maps DO load BUT theyre all black... whats causing this??? i textured the textures inside the room and left everything else as caulk (the texture that q3 doesnt load for better performance) so the map should look fine... any ideas??

Lights, enter them by rightclicking on the grid and selecting lights or entering ambient as a key and 20 as a value in the worldspawn for overall lighting.

A non-zipped .bsp file (= not a pk3 file) doesn't work in baseq3.

You either have to place the .bsp in the baseq3/maps/ folder (easiest),
or zip it with the correct directory structure and place the .pk3 in the /baseq3/ folder.

I read afterwards his map works, didn't think about sv_pure 0 :/
It's good practice though ;)
