Quake3World

I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it...
I'm on a WinXP computer, 512ram, cable modem, on a home network. On every internet game I've played in Quake3 I've had horrible lag. I don't quite understand why, because I have no problems with games like UT2k4. Any idea what might be causing it? Or perhaps a link to a previous similar question?

Scan for virii's, adware/spyware, and make sure nothing is running in the background is on when you are fraggin

type these commands in the quake3 console and test

rate 1000
snaps 30
com_maxfps 90
cl_maxpackets 30

i assume your playing on servers close to your home and that you contacted your internet service provider for help as well.

open a command prompt window and type this and post the results .. this will give us a clue if you have a reliable connection

tracert -d http://www.google.com
