:icon23: I live in south america and have a 100mbps net, but my shoot lags, its a very late shoot, but the game run smoothly. Is that a location problem, or there's something i can change in quake console?

When in-game, open the scoreboard with the TAB key and tell us what your PING value is.

I'm assuming you meant a Nvidia 5200, which is fairly close to what I run.

Specs don't seem to be the problem.

Give some straight answers and we might be able to offer more help.

I asked for ping times and you haven't given us any.
He asked for specs and you only gave (the wrong) video card model.

I realise language might be a problem for you but you clearly understand the questions and should be able to provide this information at a bare minimum.

If you don't care enough to give detailed info we don't care enough in return to help.

yeah 5200, i wrote wrong ^^ I'm sorry about the fast replies, but i having some personal problems, but now it's ok

256mb ram
direct x 9.c
nvidia 5200
AMD Duron MMX

the ping depends on the server, but look likes from other ppl.
like if everyone is 45-50 I'm 45-51...

Again I'm sorry ^^

probably a futile question, but have you set your connection speed to 'lan/cable/t1' (or similar) in the options menu?
i used to get spiked over Lan cause the connection speed was set to 33k6 :dork:

The question is still not resolved. So you get 51 ping while everyone else gets 50? >_<

its iguals the others, when everyone is in 48-50 i'm in 48-50, sometimes a bit higher, like 51, 52. but it happends to everyone

Is running instant, or is that lagged too?

do you have the right ports ope, etc? Is it a frame rate issue? Have you closed other apps running behind Q3, like msn or irc?

Check things and get back :)

its really rare to lag,

and i turn off every thing, except the antivirus.

lol...

i dont know if is a frame issue, where can i see that?

Posted: Thu Mar 29, 2007 9:28 pm

then turn off antivirus and see if that helps

to check if its a frame issue, pull down the console by pressing ~ and type

/cg_drawfps 1

press ~ again and in the top right of the screen you will see a number. if thats lower than say 30 during your spikes, then its not a connection issue.

no difference shuting down the antivirus

the frame keeps on 125, sometimes its gets higher or smaller, when i activated the command it lagged, i couldnt see the frames because it changed really fast, but i sure i saw a 48 ^^

how many processes are you running when you play?
hit ctrl+alt+del and look, imo anything more than 30 is too many(i have 26 counting q3) and i dont turn off my av.

aye the fps change all the time.thats why i asked what it averages on during one of your spikes.
enabling the fps counter does not affect perfomance so you can safely leave it on

How is your home network set up? Is your computer connected directly to the modem, through a router with cables or wireless?
