This is on a 1.5Ghz Intel laptop with 512Mb ram.
Main desktop sucks too much power to run unless I'm gaming =)

Laptop is 18.5V*3.5A so 65 watts
Desktop is 600 watts
So using laptop can cut electricity down by a factor of 9. Makes my bills a lot cheaper

It doesn't matter how many you have open as much as how much CPU/memory usage you have them using.

I gots teh smarts
If you're thinking of it, I'd recommend buying second hand and being prepared to buy a new battery for the unit. Go for a model which was high-end when released, doesn't matter if they're old cause the old high-end laptops absolutely smoke the new low and mid-ranged laptops, even if the newer ones have much higher specs. They're just built worse, run hotter, clunk along, have shitty BIOS... and so on.
I totally lucked out with this one, 20 quid and appears to have been turned on about 5 times in its life
