Bill O'Reilly interviews Richard Dawkins tomorrow night

Dunno if I'll be able to watch it...

Not sure why Dawkin's is even entertaining an O'Reilly interview, because the man is an abject moron. He's also good at things like cutting his guests mic when they point out his bullshit. He did that a few months ago to a 29 year army vet who had criticized the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo...he said something along the lines of 'at some point she started hating this country' to which she replied that she loved the country and spent 29 years of her life serving it...then asked him how many years he spent serving his country - at which point he cut the mic.

it could be a responsibility to a publisher. can't imagine it's for reaching new people to preach reason - no-one's going to be watching o'reilly to find that.
not related to o'reilly - but from dawkins site:

oh dear
the way he opened that jar and looked and said "no new life", like he was expecting evolution to leap ahead 100s of thousands of generations from self-replicating proteins to some kind of lifeform visible to the naked eye in a matter of days

I've got to hand it to creationists and republicans. They capitalize on the general public's ignorance but painting their arguments with a fine patina of scientific legitimacy. Just enough for the dolts to point at and say "See? You kooky evolutionists are not only heathens, but nuts as well. LOL."

Yeah, something like that. Nearly as bad as the banana thing.
edit: Oh, and this response to the banana video is worth watching.

the banana thing?
Speaking of creationists, I thought it was funny that one of the major creationist types - Dr.Ken Hovind, named "Dr.Dino" - the guy who had some challenge where he would give a million or somethign for 'proof' of evolution, was found guilty of 40+ counts of tax evasion with his wife...

Creationist video using the shape of the banana and some other crap trying to prove that god designed the banana intentionally for humans.

because you don't open a jar of peanut butter and see that spontaneous life has formed.... evolution must be false

Kent Hovind, whose life’s mission is to debunk evolution, says he and his employees are workers of God and therefore exempt from paying taxes.

I started with evolution today.
But I did it in secret by discussing antibiotic resistance with no mention of Evilution. My plan is to get them to understand and accept microevolution (not using the term) and then essentially dropping evolution on them as something they already know and have been agreeing with and explaining already. We'll see how it works...most of them aren't going to have any problems with evolution, but I'm hoping to get through to some of the closed-minded ones by making them see the logic behind the science before even bringing up the term and forcing them to turn off their brains for fear of burning in hell.
Funny how people have trouble going from an acceptance of microevolution to macroevolution.

if you're expecting any depth, look elsewhere. Works out well for dawkins as his book gets publicity.

a coworker of mine has a 1 year old boy and from the looks of it the poor kid is already doomed with an adolescence full of uninformed speculations and dogmas, I can see how tnf's job comes off as almost impossible
