Does anybody even play this game anymore?
I was thinking about buying it if only to play with the engine and doodle in the map editor but with the latest news on the newest games planned for release I might just give Q4 a miss.

I like it. Plus, you can buy the Special Edition version for like $20 (or less) these days.

what hatefactor said - i've seen it for £7 new in the uk.

the sp's not stellar but more than entertaining enough - plus it's worth owning a copy just for the sake of it.

Pick it up when(if?) the final of patch 1.4.1 is out, there will be a influx of players the first while to frag with and then everyone will remember Q4 sucks again. After that you will have all the time in the world to play singleplayer.

survey says..... give it a miss!

I'll probably pick up the thing after I get ET:QW and buy a new harddrive for my computer just for the sake of completing my collection of Quake games. Damn shame to have Q1,2,and 3 but not have the 4th =)

Save youre money and wait for CRYSIS, the second generation of Cryteck2 ...kind of the second part of FARCRY.

yeah I'm actually really giddy about the release of Crysis.
I might not buy ET:QW until I get Crysis =) Looks more developer friendly when it comes to mapping too.

But don't get me wrong, I still have every intention of getting ET:QW. It's just that Crysis has priority at the moment.

If you are planning on buying it for multiplayer. Don't bother the game is dead unless you enjoy playing with the only 8 people left that plays this game online.

well, seeing as how I was at the grocery store which happened to be RIGHT next to gamestop I popped in for a visit.

Q4 for 19.99?
Oh? What's this? 21.00 in my pocket? Must have been meant to be.

So I'm about to install this thing and finally play with what the engine has to offer mapping/programming-wise (which is really the only reason I wanted the game in the first place)

I picked mine up for $9.99

It was marked down from 59 to 49 to 39 to 29 to 19 and finally 10. It had all the old price stickers stacked on top of each other rofl

If you plan on playing the single player campaign, do not install the 1.4.1 Beta Patch. The single player in broken and will crash constantly.

Probably best to play SP with version 1.0 and install newer patches when you are ready for MP.

Hehe just like all the patches they released trying to fix the game.

Actually $9.99 should have been the price when the game was released. Better yet they should have just included it in one of those magazines that comes with demos on cd.

It is after all a game that will not be fixed :icon28:

The game is very good, but I can't fully enjoy it due to tremendous lag because of a crappy graphic card, when I get a better graphic card, I'll prolly play it online

DoomShadow that is people problem they have an old 1999 pc and a shitty gfx cards that they can still run cs on and expect to run quake 4 on it. To have a good gfx card you need to upgrade the whole pc. I have no problems with it.

nah me neither now

-although my last pc (my l33t q3 machine) struggled - so i ended up building a new system to play it with, which is kinda one of the main problems imo - i feel they should have done far more to make the game scaleable.

once you get it running smoothly, there's no doubt it rocks
