It's not often you walk into a meeting with your director and 2 bosses and 1 hour later walk out with your director and 2 employees.

I all seriousness I'm glad I've been moved up I got some big plans to make things better we've grown so much in the last 6 years since I started and the IT department has pretty much stayed the same. I plan to relocate some people bump a few deserving guys into better positions and slightly adjust the attitude of the great team we have.

The first thing you gonna learn about beeing a manager is that you still have nothing to say and that the director will judge you on how close you are with your former collegues.

So how on earth did the 2 managers take to you being promoted over them? That can't be without some political unpleasantness unless your bosses were sound guys, in which case you wouldn't feel it was so warranted......

The one guy will be keeping his title of Tech supervisor, he will just report to me now. The IT manager on the other hand did not take it well. In all fairness the guy is a great asset to the company, he's just not a people person. It started last year when I was made his boss on all issues relating to our phone system. He created too much friction and it came back and bit him. Now it has escilated to this.

I hope he doesn't take this change personally and stays around our network would not be as sound as it is now without him. But I do hope the change humbled him in some way to stop creating so much friction.

He also created a cloud over all the guys in his building. This cloud carried random stress storms and seemed to hold all the guys down with no room for advancement. We got alot of sharp guys that need a chance to move up and get into new things. I have been keeping my building flowing smoothly with relaxed IT guys for some time now. The only thing I was missing was the position and the power to spread my method to all our sites.

Nissan has been gone for a while. I'v been driving an XG350 for about 2 years now...
