Permanently erasing free space

Is there a freeware program that can permanently erase all the free space on my hard drive? I deleted some stuff I don't want recoverable with file recovery software.

Something that writes 1s or 0s or something over the free space on the hard drive, you know, like Norton Wipeinfo.

'Eraser51'

Double it up with a sweep using CCleaner, scandisk and then disk defragmentor and then do a 1 or 3-pass wipe on free space.

With Eraser you just right click on your C drive select 'wipe free space' and set it up to do its thing.

Thanks, Foo.

I found the site for that Eraser program.

The number is actually the version number, without the decimal place. The current version is 5.6, I got that one.

eraser is a very good piece of software, lets you erase a particular file with just a right click.

That's handy. Thanks for telling me that.
