Dell Laptops

for around the £350-£400 range.
Looks like alot for my money, any hidden dangers in Dells?

Mostly I agree with you, Foo. However, one thing is important-laptops are fragile and the highly expensive display will eventually fail, so new or used, a warranty is sort of like hedging your bets it will work when needed.
Also, the turion64's I bought for field superintendents cost $540.00, have on top of that year warranty, a gig of ram, dvd-r /rw, nice 15" display and an 80 Gig sata drive. Can't really say they're incredible laptops, but they work fine for the price.

the problem with dells is they are dells.
sony.
the sonys are pretty tough mine gets right thrashed i'm surprized its still up.
dont go bottom line tho.
sony dont even make desktops anymore and it is kinda a dated concept

i haven't been impressed with my woman's dell. it's a design clusterfuck and has a fan that's always on.

this sony is dead quiet, fan almost never comes on, never had a crash ever , great screen, good software included. durable.
and now they are cheaper and have more even.

Personally, I'd buy a Lenovo (IBM). Most durable laptops I've ever seen.
