Quake3World

So i constantly see maps in multiplayer that i don't have
it has the quake symbol and when i join it goes to title screen
i tried looking for places to download these maps but no luck
are they customized maps?
what are they?
are they even maps?

type /cl_allowdownload 1 in the console, then type /reconnect on a server that has custom maps and it will download the map (usually) but with slow speeds

or you can check the screen and see what the map name is (eg., pro-q3dm6.pk3) and google the entire map name, you will usually find a lot of places to download it with good speed.

then you need to put the map .pk3 file into baseq3, and you can play it.

that second tip is the best and fastest option in my experience.

ok so i tried the first tip but it says it is an unknown command

must not have typed it correctly.

it also under your Game Options tab in the escape menu, click it!

I really don't want to sound like an annoying n00b but i don't see that button in the options menu
but i am writing that command correctly. maybe im not typing it in the right spot? i type it in console

It's in Setup/Game Options at the bottom of the list.

The humorous part would be if he finally types the cvar the right way, and the server ends up having sv_allowDownload set to "0". I'd do what dubz said...since it's much quicker anyway...or google it.

edit: Heh, I'm thinking the same as Piece. You might want to update it to 1.32c.

start the game up, bring down the console by pressing the "~" key and see what version it says in the right hand corner of the console window.

You're still not telling us what version you are running?

• open Quake III
• in the main menu press the ~
• Then come back and tell us what version you are running?

It's free. First update to 1.32 then apply the 1.32c patch. The links can be found in the sticky threads.

but I'm unable to make it work.
Ive copied to baseq3, but still keeps me throwing out from pro servers, only that orange quake sign appears. What should I do?

get 1.32 and you'll automatically have it once you've installed the patch.

NO-NO, I have full version of Q3 with 1.16n patch, and downloaded the promaps.pk3, copied to baseq3 directory and want to play pro-q3dm6 on a 1.16 server. When I search for servers, and select a pro-q3dm6 from the list, I cant see the thumbnail, only that big orange quake sign, and cant join of course.
