I don't have vista, but I tested it out at the store, and except for different icons, it doesn't seem any better or worse. Who the hell is buying this if they don't need a new computer?

Nothing runs on DX10 yet.
And the minimum requirements for games double when you install Vista.

Personally I'm happy with XP. I only have vista so when DX10 games do come out I'm prepaired. Other than that my Vista install has nothng on it, yet.

The merge to Windows Vista is inevitable. I doubt there are many people rushing to get the retail, though.

Been using Vista since Janurary. It's working great for me. Many small improvments make it worthwile.

Vista is great. Obviously there's no rush to go out and buy it, but it'll come around.

that's what people said when XP came out.
'I dont need it. win2k FTW, bla bla, I'll never switch'
now everbody is on XP.
Guess what?
In a year or so most people here will be on Vista.
get with the times or dont whine if your PC cant handle it?

Bullshit. Games run just fine with Vista on my 3.0ghz/HT CPU and that isn't exactly new tech.

I thought that I read MS saying those 9.0L rumors where false

Not gonna happen, Amidy. That was just speculation. DirectX9.L only enables DX9.0c support for Vista. There won't be any DX10 for XP.

There is a guy working on a project to port dx10 to xp, but that will take a long time to be anywhere as good as vista's dx10, if ever

Well I just got a new computer 2gigs ram AMD 64 bit x2 core and runs alright but it seems slow.
The way Vista looks to me, is like microsoft decided that in order to look new and and innovative, they took all things familiar with any Windows edition and decided to mix it all up, change the way you do a most basic task. All your natural Windows instincts are riped apart in Vista.
So I guess it seems slow because you literary have to stop and think about what you want to do and how to do it.
