PC to LCD-TV

Right.
I want to hook up my PC to my LCD-TV.
PC-out wise, I think I should use a DVI-D plug for digital transfer.
However, the TV has a specific PC-in port, and this is a d-sub 3row 15pins port.
If I understand correctly, this will only support analogue tranfer.
So is it better to use one of the TV's HDMI-ports and DVI-D on the PC, or should I use the TV's PC-in port with DVI-A on the PC?
First option seems to be the obvious choice, but I'm getting wrongfooted a bit by the specific PC-in (analogue?) port.

there's nothing in it, just use 15 pin d-sub

Just hook up the regular blue VGA output to the VGA input on the TV.
You'll not gain anything from using DVI-A to VGA.
If you can afford and really want the slight quality gain from a digital connection, you'll have to convert DVI-D to HDMI... Not very cost effective though unless the PC is going to form a core element of your main home cinema setup somehow.

Hmmm, didn't really think there was a *huge* quality increase to be gained by going the digital way, yet instinctively thought I might as well.
Also didn't realise there was some DVI-D to HDMI conversion involved (some box in between?), just a matter of one cable.
However, easily pursuaded as I am

, I'll take the VGA => VGA route.
Thanks.

Might just be a single cable, I'm not up on HDMI stuff. You might fall afoul of HDCP stuff via the digital route though.

Single cable or dongle will convert DVI to HDMI.

No resolution limit?

That leaves me in a bit of a conundrum, then.
Know what, I'm still taking the VGA => VGA route.
If I'm not happy with the results, I'll explore the digital alternative.
