problems with quake

Hope somebody can help me........ been playing quake 3 for a few years on and off. Have no trouble connecting to the net but as soon as i connect to quake it jumps and freezes even though my ping is only 60...... i can get onto different servers ok and chat to ppl but cant play???????
Any nice ppl out there to help me

Is there no one going to help me...... whats the point on looking and reading it you have to put fingers to keyboard to help me....... hmmmm some people!

turn off any virusscanners or other background programs before starting up the game. see if that helps

I have tried all of that somebody said it could be graphic card but i can play other games. Its just came on in the last couple of days.....

what has changed on your PC since you last played Quake without problems?
Have you got a new router? Firewall software? New operating system?
still no luck

Firewall could that be it ....? I have installed quake again but still will not play.......when I haven't got it I want to play and when I have got it I'm not too fussed.....typical!!
