Medic!

When playing ET:QW I often find myself on the human side acting as Engineer ignoring the main objective (leaving that to the other engineers to handle) and instead build guard towers, capture spawn points, and repair anti-vehicle/personel turrets and radars.
When the main objective is built, I switch out to Soldier and rush the South Sewer Gate in all the confusion while teams are busy locked in a stalemate behind me. After that's planted, I head for the Maintnance Hatch and blow that.
Finally, when all's said and done, I switch out to Covert Op and end up just being slaughtered trying to hack the sewer controls.
Here's where I get to my topic:
I notice that there are never very many medics and they're an extremely useful class. I played it once and was spam-rezzing everybody that died and tossing medipaks like crazy. I had so much fun as a medic that I want to start playing them more often but I'm not quite sure how to play one.
I was wondering if anybody that knows how to play a medic can give me some pointers. I don't want to be the noob medic that snipes from hilltop spawn with a regular assault rifle. :icon32:
Thanks guys!
