Touch it with a battery while its running?\

Rub it on the carpet?

Put something in the fan so it overheats?

What's the point. Won't they just send you a replacement of the same card. It's not like they're going to upgrade you to a 8800 or something.

they dont make the 6800 any more,

they will send him an Equivelent.

Though, i am not sure what they would give him in there Current line..

also, i beleve they have the option to kinda "upgrade".. he could pay more and get the 8800 if he wishes.

Maybe they would replace it with a 7600GS ?

They were selling those in Circuit City after they got rid of the 6800's. For some reason, I have a feeling the 7600GS isnt even as good as your current 6800.

I know its a little off topic, but CC is selling 8800 GTS's for about 270. Considering this is at a mainstream store, thats a pretty decent price. At the moment, I would actually consider creating a whole new system if I had even a little money.

Just now hearing they don't make the 6800 anymore made me feel kinda deserted. I hadn't felt this way ever since I had a Geforce 4mx

I am currenly running the 7600 GS and although it's listed stats are better than the 6800 it did seem to score lower than the 6800 in a Mark 7 test.
In fact it scored lower than a lot of cards.

Perhaps it was my system holding it back. I ran the test like 2 years ago.

System stats were.

AMD 3000+
1 GB Ram PC3200 (512+512)
Maxtor 40GB HD
WD 40GB HD
7600 GS 256 MB.

In fact I had never personally seen anyone get a good score even with all the newest hardware.
I got ticked off and tossed Mark 5,6,7...
I started to wonder if the Mark 7 creators were in league with the hardware manufacturers. Set to give poor test scores to get people to want to run out and buy more expensive stuff. :dork:

As far as messing up a video card I suppose you want to get a new version of the same model as to "atificially" extend the life of your card?

I would say don't endanger the rest of your system for it, but you may want to stick it into an older system you have around(if you do) and lock up the fan as suggested above and do some realy video intensive stuff untill it fries.
You may try to install it backwards into the AGP port (or upside down in the system) as best you can and start up the system and it may fry the card.
I have seen this happen with sticks of RAM that were purchased faulty and the system vendor didn't want to admit there was a problem and wouldn't replace the stick so "someone" did this in an older machine to get a new stick of RAM. :paranoid:

the 7600 GS would be the replacement for the 6600... the 7900 would be the closest to the 6800... though i have a feeling they will want you to pay a little more to have it..

btw, is your fan starting to make some noises? if all else fails, unplug the fan and rung the card into the ground.
