Anyone been following Murdoch's attempt to buy Dow Jones?

This isn't new, but I haven't heard it discussed here.
I can't envision any way that Rupert Murdoch owning Dow Jones and Co. - they are the publishers of the Wall Street Journal - being a good thing.

There's a lot more to this story, obviously. Those of you who follow the DJ closely have any thoughts?

They made Murdoch sign a statement they'd not touch the 'standard and integrity' of the wall street journal. But obviously, this whole takeover is a Very Bad Thing.
There should some kind of law against owning a majority of corporations operating in the same sector... oh wait.

They changed said law to accommodate Murdoch before didn't they?

Yea, there was a law about what % of the media could be controlled by one person or something to that effect...politicians that were in favor of the old law changed their tune and pushed for the % to go up to exactly what it was Murdoch owned after having books published by one of his publishers.
