Got it from work to replace my old 512Mb junker. I know about
http://www.tinyapps.org but are there any other sites/apps that are handy to run off a flash drive? This isn't leading anywhere, just looking for gee whiz stuff to toy around with.

You can run Q3 off of it, most likely some other games too, just as long as they don't require or use any registry entries.

Windows XP USB edition. It's a heavily modified version of it, anyways.

try the usual places (like newegg) - not hard to find 4GB sticks for around $30 anymore.

Find a 4gb sony pro duo for $30 then...
It was a deal at frys.com, but it only lasted like 4 hours. I saw it on slickdeals.net
