Are there any Quake 1 development communities out there that anyone knows of? I am trying to do some work with the Quake 1 engine and this defiantly doesn't seem like the place to ask my questions.

Pro tip: Do not start new threads on func_msgboard, it isn't a regular forum. Ask in their Mapping Help thread.

Pro tip 2: Do not kill yourself because you don't understand the structure of that site.

func_messageboard sucks and a bunch of arcane mapping elitists.
If you're into coding and anything else, try

Well. You're wrong. I'm a member there and am far from an elitist.
Nice job on the hatin' though.

He most likely thinks it was elitist 'cause he doesn't understand the structure of that site.

Not embracing nude gay gargoyle porn mods doesn't make you elitist.

Lately I have been a little more interested in doing some quake 1 DM or single player maps just for kicks.. Only problem is that I doubt anyone would play it!
Seriously I haven't had much drive to even update my site in a long time simply because I never got any feedback on my last level and a whopping 12 downloads in a month!
Oddly enough I have a version of GTK all set up and running and can compile quake 1 stuff right now.
I am interested in doing another community project but man the small amount of interest with my last project felt like a kick in the chest.....
I suppose thats what I get for venturing out of the quake universe
Think if I made some quake 1 stuff more than 12 people would download it?

Wasn't his last project a q4 map? If you put your q3 maps on LvL, you'll get a lot more than 12 downloads/month, btw.
Feedback is another thing, though.

ah no my last level was a UT2004 map.
Did all of my own static meshes and such.
actually on this topic I got word that the UT3 demo is out.
I think I might be updating my site again soon and get prepped up for UT3 action.
You know it will have some kind of community for at least a couple weeks before people get bored!
hahaha
