Back at it for another year \o/
LA dispatched Anaheim 4-1 in the season-opener in London's 02 Arena. Say bye bye to the Ducks franchise. Without Teemu and Scott, they're worthless
So who are your picks for this year? Nashville and Phoenix have had a surprisingly good pre-season, but with the bolstering that the Rangers and Red Wings have done, it could just as well be a fluke. Hopefully Montreal, Calgary, and Toronto all have good seasons. Toskala's unbeatable

Here's what happened the last time Cumstain Spazda pretended to know something about hockey...
Captain Mazda wrote:And what are you talking about Duhard? The Stanley Cup's been won by an Eastern Conference team almost exclusively in the past.
Duhard wrote:Make some sense? You'd have to be mature for that first...does Detroit, Dallas, Colorado and Anaheim ring a bell to you?

Toronto-Ottawa and Calgary-Philadelphia double-header on CBC Thursday night
Also, just because I can:
Stanley Cup Champions since 1950:
Eastern Conference - 40
Western Conference - 17

also helps when you fudge the numbers; considering the conferences have only existed since 1974, it should look more like this:
Code: Select all
Prince of Wales / Eastern Campbell / Western
1975-76 - Montreal Canadiens 1974-75 - Philadelphia Flyers†
1976-77 - Montreal Canadiens 1979-80 - New York Islanders†
1977-78 - Montreal Canadiens 1980-81 - New York Islanders†
1978-79 - Montreal Canadiens 1983-84 - Edmonton Oilers
1981-82 - New York Islanders 1984-85 - Edmonton Oilers
1982-83 - New York Islanders 1986-87 - Edmonton Oilers
1985-86 - Montreal Canadiens 1987-88 - Edmonton Oilers
1990-91 - Pittsburgh Penguins 1988-89 - Calgary Flames
1991-92 - Pittsburgh Penguins 1989-90 - Edmonton Oilers
1992-93 - Montreal Canadiens 1995-96 - Colorado Avalanche
1993-94 - New York Rangers 1996-97 - Detroit Red Wings
1994-95 - New Jersey Devils 1997-98 - Detroit Red Wings
1999-00 - New Jersey Devils 1998-99 - Dallas Stars
2002-03 - New Jersey Devils 2000-01 - Colorado Avalanche
2003-04 - Tampa Bay Lightning 2001-02 - Detroit Red Wings
2005-06 - Carolina Hurricanes 2006-07 - Anaheim Ducks
†The Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders are no longer members of the Campbell/Western Conference. They moved to the Wales Conference prior to the 1981-82 NHL season.
which is much more even.
