Is there a way to stop the chat and frag messages from showing up on the screen, so that if I take off the HUD nothing will show up at all?

Not in BaseQ3, but it can be done in OSP and CPMa as far as frag messages go atleast.

You can always take the chat messages off. I forgot how to do it outside of CPMa but it should be in the FAQ.

EDIT: Yes that would be it.

The command should be con_notifytime -1

there's also cl_noprint 1
