I really hate the lame and gay mods that most servers used. I just want to play quake 3 online with nothing more than just Q3. No unlagged, Excessive, or Instagib. I want pure and original quake like it used to be.

The down side: vanilla Q3 servers are rarities these days, CPMA in VQ3 mode is the closest thing you'll find these days.

The upside: CPMA VQ3 is very much like regular VQ3 but better.

"Better" except you'll find the best q3 players from the last 8 years playing there.

OSP is alright. At least you don't have to faff about to change the HUD, you can change it from within the game, inlike in CPMA.


Something both mods do, though, is change the name of the armours; Heavy Armor is called Red Armor, Combat Armor is called Yellow Armor; it names them after their colour instead.

The armours don't have as many properties as in Q2, though (protecting differently from different weapons) and the "Heavy" armour isn't "heavy", it doesn't slow the player down; so in a way it's better to have the names as the colours. On the other hand, naming them after their colours is very simplistic and doesn't convey their strength. You wouldn't like the Mega Health being renamed Blue Health, after all, would you?

This is q3, not q2. OSP does not change armor funtionality at all. CPMA only changes it if you're playing in cpm mode. Most people play in "vq3" mode, again, armor is exactly the same as in the default game. The "name" has nothing to do with it.

How big of an issue is changing your hud? lol. Like you're doing that all the time... hey try fragging someone.

Also try /ch_file old;reloadHUD (in cpma)

I didn't say it did change the armour functionality.
