Weak Wireless Signal

My laptop, Toshiba Tecra A9 with Intel AGN adapter and Vista Buisness, has a very weak signal with my router, Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT. On the router IP, 192.168.1.1, it says I have about 50% signal quality. My laptop has issues connecting to it sometimes, especially if I don't specifically disconnect to it when I take the laptop to class. To try and solve that problem i turned SSID broadcasting on. This, however, doesn't help my signal quality at all. The laptop is about 3 feet from the router when connected. Right behind my router is the surge protector and a foot and a half above my router is my roommate's router. Any suggestions on how to make the connection stronger?

Duh, move it away from the other router and surge protector!

Also there is such a thing as too close to the beacon. Try 5-6 foot away with your laptop... but move it well away from the other kit first, and switch it to a different wireless channel to your roommate if you haven't already.

Also, why not just turn off wireless on your router, connect to your roommate's router, and access your router via his wireless?

That way only 1 signal to worry about.
