uPnP?

Azureus is giving me errors about this constantly lately, eother that it can't bind to my router, or the it got unbound. From what a gather, uPnP is like network plug and play, a device (or program on a device in this case) talks to the router and automatically opens up the required ports. My previous router didn't have it, and I never had any problems, but I spent all of my last install on this router, never getting a uPnP error. I've also noticed that this time around, if I download even one file, at say 60 kb/sec and upload at 5 kb/sec, my connection goes to hell, with constant time-outs;don't even think about using anything with more than 4, because its the same affect as though I had no internet connectivity (even though I know I do, as the torrents still go) I've turned the plugin for it off in azureus, but I don't actually know if it worked, as I have no torrents to download ATM. After seeing what this shitty protocol can do, and thinking of the glaring security hole it is, I want to turn it off.

Its not a terrible security hole for most home users but it is often implemented quite poorly by many consumer grade router vendors. The protocol, if implemented correctly, will close ports after a short inactivity period.
