Looking for Giant Quake 3 maps

I'm looking for huge Quake 3 maps for a 64 slot server over Christmas for some large FFA and CTF games. So far we've got kinterra and kirei, are there any other decent maps that could work for such large games? Not really design and modelling but you're the people who'd know. The server will be a UK Lazery server, if anyone's interested I'll post the ip when we have it.

Off the top of my head:

Snickelfritz's FlatIron was pretty big IIRC

Oh, and Castle's Water Giant was huuuge...

Post up the IP and time, and I might join (of course, I could just check that ESR thread again, but I'm lazy...).

these are probably the good majority of the biggest maps made, but not all of them will necessarily be able to hold 64 players..if you can get 64
players to all pile into one server at one time that'd be something though..oof

I see pjw3dm2 in your list v1l3. I :lub: it and jugzy over there hated it in our match. But it's an excellent map

I made a gigantonormous Q3:TA map way back in 2002. I had a Q3 version of it somewhere, but of course lost it when my last site pooped itself. The map is called Heliotropic Dreams and can be found here: http://www.levelforge.com/index.html Work---Levels---Quake3---Heliotropic Dreams. http://www.levelforge.com/Levels/raventa_helio3.zip. I originally made it for the 4team CTF MOD, but the MOD never made it to completion so I just adjusted it back to 2 team CTF for TA.

Thanks man--glad you liked it. :)

I actually *don't* see pjw3dm3 on that list, and that's the biggest map I've made.

But yeah, 64 players...? It would be pretty damn crowded, and it probably doesn't have more than 20 spawns, which is potentially pretty messy right there...

Edit:

Ahahaha! I love that map! I haven't thought about it in years. It's ginormous, and there are soooooo many awesome rail-sniper vantage points to find!!

I've been playing the pjw3dm3_tourney version for so long that it's become more of a tourney map in my head than otherwise. Your right though..it is a big map, thought it's a bit wide open on the bottom side to be holding a high client count.

I have been doing extremely well thanks ^^ My wife and I have a new baby girl, so I have not really been online all that much in the last couple of months. I am managing to find a little time to mess with a Q4 level here and there, so life is good :) How are things going with you?

Rematch ho. But I'll be busy for months so it will probably be this summer. My rig won't hold me back anymore at the least. The xmas bash sounds nice though. Might reinstall q3 for that.

Why don't you nominate padman series?

Yeah..I don't think any mapper has attempted an idea of more players than that. I've personally played alot of
sv_maxclient "20" servers which were usually done on q3dm12. All of these maps are the most gigantic ones.

Whatever happened to Snickelfritz? He used to be a mod here before I took over and then he more or less just disappeared. I think FlatIron was his only map.

slightly off-topic here, but has anyone ever played the UT2K4 map Panalesh? now that's a fucking massive map. scaled up to the real world it probably equals in size to a modest-sized town. by far the biggest map of any game i've ever played

here, if anyone's interested:

I had a couple of mail messages from him after that, but then he disappeared. I know that he also made a rail map, one of the novelty ones with a bunch of JPs. I think it was called Jiggly-pop or Jiggy-pop. Not sure it was ever formally released into the wild.

I remember some of Raven's other maps were enormous. In one case, I had to delete half the textures in the pk3 to get ti to run on my machine at the time. Congrats on the baby, Raven. :) Been a long time since I've seen you around here.

I also recall a huge map, based on a Dutch town, which could probably accommodate 128 players, if you could get 'em all on. But that was a few years ago and I don't think it was ever finally released.
