I don't believe there is a best mouse in the world ever because the mouse is a very personal piece of equipment, what works for some, doesn't for others. There's so many factors involved here.

For me, I've been very spoilt. I was lucky enough to purchase my 8 / 9 yr old Logitech PS2 Balled 4 button (3 buttons across the top, no wheel, one thumb button) Mouseman M-CV46 and this for me is still the best mouse I've owned.

I've owned a fair few mice over the time, (I still have lying in the drawer a Razer Deathadder and an Microsoft opitical Intelli-mouse thingy - both collecting dust). The Deathadder is a great mouse particularly if like me you don't have big hands or long fingers that are required for the other razer mice out there and you are right handed. It is also hugely responsive and highly customisable.

But for some reason or other the M-CV46 feels better and smoother and I find I'm more accurate and therefore play better with it. (I'm sure this is just a personal preference thing - like I said it's a very personal thing). So I've gone back to using this mouse and still will until it dies. (May that day be a very long time in coming, please).

Unfortunately it's now so old that there are no longer any pictures of it on the web any more. I'll add an image to this post later tonight when I get home, with the deathadder next to it for comparison purposes.

The Logitech MX-518 and the G5 have also been touted as being the best mice ever, but I haven't used either personally. If the M-CV46 dies, I might be tempted to purchase one of them.

As I said earlier though it's a very, very personal thing, and what works for me, may not work for others.

EDIT:- Promised I'd post a picture of the mice.

Send me the dust-collecting DeathAdder, ok?

Overall yeah, I agree. But still, ppl can rate how responsive the mice are... And DeathAdder is one of the best out there.

You get no arguements from me on the responsiveness of the DeathAdder, like I said I've had many mice and it's right up there, right behind the Logitech Mouseman M-CV46. And I'd love to be in position to just give away the DeathAdder, but with my Mouseman being so old, I just know one day in the not too distance future I'll be crying over the lost of my old faithful friend and yet stroking the blue pulsing light that is the signature piece on the back of the Deathadder once more cause I doubt I'll have the good fortune of being in a position to purchase anything else.

@Duhard ... Is that the intelli-exploder wireless / wired jobie ??

I had that mouse for a while but I use the middle button / wheel depress for jump and it only works on release of the depress which is very annoying. I think I posted about that, some time back. If it's the same mouse, do you have the same issue with the wheel depress in Q3 only working on release of the button and not on the press but no release.

Thanks.

FoRa!

Heh, I am using a ms 1.1 Intellimouse explorer and the shape just purely kicks ass, but I think I'd still choose Razer as a new mouse over it, especialy when the shape is almost the same.

FoRa > Heh, I gues u're right, as I never tried the Mouseman...

PS. Damn, almost got it :D But nah, I was joking anyway.

Huh? I just edited the post, how did it..?

Oh, I guess I'll just have to blame my "intarnet" connection...

The old 1.1 and the 2.0 versions of the MS mouse are fine .. it's only when they changed to the wheel with the sideways scroll functionality that it went pearshaped.

Edit: I had the first verison of the Intelli-mouse Explorer.. That was a good mouse as well.

Yeah, it does feel good. The fact that I can't play with it without draging my hand on the table and slowing my aim gets me nervous sometimes tho...
