Flac to mp3 conversion - - Help meh

Ok I tried this one program called riversoft, and in the flac the audio is fine but when it goes to mp3, i hear noise in the background, like someone recorded the song on a computer microphone. Im wondering is there any programs that will convert FLAC to MP3 without this shitty noise? I tried using out_mp3 in winamp but it wont do it to the flac files (Yes I installed the winamp flac player plugin).

Thanks in advance.

I would advise splitting the process up. Convert the flac files from flac to wav. Check the resulting wav files and make sure they're clean, then encode the music using a specialised mp3 converter + encoder such as CDex with the LAME codec.

Also, try and stick to the applications on etree.org if you can. You'll get support for high quality throughput from the fine folks there if you do. They know their stuff.

i disagree. you may as well re-rip your collection to .wav using EAC instead of checking those .wav files manually.

etree .org is ok, but Hydrogenaudio is even better.

no, i'm saying instead of converting the .flac files to .wav, checking them and THEN encoding to .mp3, to use EAC to convert the source to .wav -->.mp3 and be done with it. imo, EAC is the king of rippers.

I was under the impression these flac files were ones obtained from the net, from open sites like etree.org.

So getting them as wav isn't an option.

dunno, he was asking for conversion. i have about 45% of my 600+ cd collection backed up using EAC/FLAC. music i want for portability gets ripped at the same time using EAC/LAME vbr with custom strings.
