Problem Firing Weapons

When I try to fire, one of two things will ocassionally happen:

1) My weapon will not fire and I have to click again once or twice to get it to shoot.

2) My weapon will fire but will continue to fire as if I had continued rapidly clicking the mouse afterward but will eventually stop after maybe 3 to 10 fires.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Which drivers? I also have a $50 Logitech G5 and have no problems in any other FPSs I've been playing (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Unreal Tournament 3).

I don't know what you have. What's your setup?

There's a few things you can try regardless... try setting in_mouse -1 at the console then in_restart.

But we'll at least need to know if you're on linux, mac or windows. And your game patch version. And your system specs.

Windows XP; I haven't done any patching, all I did was purchase it off of Steam and that automatically updates and it didn't download any patches, so I assumed it was all patched up; http://www.xfire.com/profile/faultyclockwork/ <- system specs are there, at the very bottom.

How do you get to the Console?

COnsole is the key below escape on your keyboard. Or depending on location possibly the ~ key to the left of enter.

To check the patch version, bring the console down and check out the low-right corner. version will probably be 1.32

Yes, I have 1.32. I just tried putting "in_mouse -1" into the console. I'm going to see how that works out.

EDIT: No more firing trouble now. I have another question though. Is it possible to set the game so it doesn't switch weapons when you pick one up?

I couldn't find it in the menu, but I've been known to completely miss stuff that's right under my nose.

Thanks a lot for the help.

It's in the controls menu, under shooting
