I want to move my mp3 collection from my laptop to my new rig. I tried the AI DirectLink utility that came with my new mobo, didn't work as my laptop isn't GigE.
I need to move about 30Gb and it will take for fucking ever over WiFi.

Any ideas?

DVD burner? Or large capacity thumb drives?

Nah, too much of a pain in the ass. I don't want to burn everything and I only have a 2Gb flash drive. I'm looking for something over USB, but so far it's all some contraption that I'd have to purchase. Probably just going to go with WiFi.

indeed, 10/100 over Eathernet, you can do it over a crossover cable if you dont ahve a router/hub/switch...

then you should be able to pull ~3-4megs/sec ( depending on the lappy ) and it will be done in a hour or so.

Network it. Even on wifi you set it going overnight and it'll be done by morning.
Just put the laptop about 6ft from the router and wire the desktop in.

That's precisely how they're set up now. Guess I'll start it before I go to bed.

Hell, that was fast. 27.5Gb over wired enet in less than an hour. Cool.
