i only watched the end of quali last night and a bit of friday practice. i have to say that the BMW looks like some sort of carbon fiber porcupine, but might be for real this year. Also i'm very happy to see that drivers need to drive again, the lack of TCS amplifies driver mistakes and should provide much more passing opportunities. It certainly made quali more interesting with Kubica getting within a wild last corner power slide of pole.

oh, and a big LOL @ Capt. Eyebrows.

Several folks have already tapped Lewis Hamilton to take the championship. More than a bit premature, IMO, but he's definitely capable. I of course want Massa to win his first WDC and would like to see Rosberg take a few podiums at least, and ideally his first win, but more than anything I want a competitive season. Just not for Eyebrownando. Goddamn Sam the Eagle muppet-looking motherfucker.

Nice find. that kicked ass. It also made me come to the following conclusions.

F1 has sucked dick since the Senna/Mansell/Prost era
Mansell has big balls
Senna was in a league of his own
Hakkinen was a girl who cried in the woods.
They should rip off the wings from the cars and give them gay skinny tyres.
The original silver arrows were the best looking cars ever

1st step is to stop worshiping senna like he was the full-stop of racing drivers. i was never a fan of schumi, but he was better than senna and hammy could end up being the best ever, not just overwhelmingly good, but also a rather likable guy.

I loved watching Senna back in the day, and he was awesome, but I agree with you on all counts.

There is nothing wrong with saying Senna was great, Schumi is also in the past, I watched them both race and thought that Senna was the better of the two...however when I said in a league of his own, I did mean that when he was racing he was the best driver by far.. not the best driver of all time, there was some dude called Fangio who was supposed to be pretty acceptable when it came to driving.

My love for the past is more for the cars than the drivers, watching the old cars with shitty tyres and no downforce is great, and would require a different style of driving, the removal of TC is a step in the right direction, however power needs to go up, and grip needs to be reduced much more to make F1 nice to watch again.

I'd love to see Schumi, Hamilton, Senna, and Fangio compete against each other in their prime in equal cars. That's the only way this debate would ever get settled, especially when you go all the way back to Fangio. The cars were so vastly different.

Oh, and let's not forget a young man by the name of Jim Clark.

You can add a shitload of drivers to that list, Piquet, Prost, Surtees, Stewart.
Either way, it wont happen, the best you can hope for is Schumi coming back and dicking everyone else to prove a point.

There should be a mandatory race at the end of the season, with every driver in an identical car, no points, just a race so that all the people who claim they would have won the championship with a better car, have the chance to prove something.

Well it was a cracking race to be fair - Hamilton to as composed as ever and it would appear that the lack of TC made little difference to him. Kimi does not have the right sort of driving style to cope without TC to begin with. His style will need to evolve over a few races. Only then will we see his true potential for this season.

Someone else to look out for this season: Jenson Button. The blokes driving style is super smooth and he should have a good season.

I am looking forward to seeing the following people this season:

Kubica
Kovalainen
Rosberg
Vettel

It will be interesting to see them.

Hamilton will be a great. I would guess that he will gun for a few of Schumi's records in years to come.

wouldn't put Piquet or Prost on that list, but yes, there are others.

They hold the International Race of Champions every year, you know that right? Drivers from the WRC, F1, NASTARD, etc. They run 3 different types of identical cars, it's sweet.

Hamilton is an absolute phenom, a rare combination of mind-numbing skill and maturity, plus he seems to be a really likable guy. Look at his performance last season, it's unparalleled in F1 history and he looks to be on track to better it this year.

DC - It was nice to see Kovi really getting after it and showing what he's capable of in a quality car. I love seeing committed drivers like Kubica, Heidfeld, and Rosberg being completely in sync with the team and moving the whole effort forward. I think it really speaks highly of Rosberg in particular that he decided to stay with Williams, as McLaren were going to offer up a shitload of cash to get him if the rumor mill is at all accurate.
Button's another example, simply for his dedication. He begged the Honda higher-ups not to sack a ton of people last year, saying that he had faith that the team would turn it around. Looks like he may have been correct.

I want to see Trulli do well, not so much for Toyota and their giant bags of money, but because he's paid his dues. I think it's time for the old guard to move on. Fisichella (rofl), Easter Island Head (ffs, just piss off already), Barrichello (sorry mate, you'll never be champion your best shot was with Ferrari, thanks for your efforts), they all need to retire. This new crop of ex-GP2 stars is on the rise and as long as Hamilton doesn't pull a Schumacher and just check the fuck out every race the season should be a blast to watch.
