Can't make CD bootable

Or maybe I just can't make my rig boot from the DVD drive. Not sure, but it's pissing me the fuck off. I want to get rid of XP 64-bit, too many problems with my older games. I have XP, but for some reason it won't boot. Tried making a new bootable CD with Nero, no worky. I have the boot order forced to only DVD drive, nothing else, and it still won't boot.
How the fuck am I going to get XP installed? The CD won't give me the option to reinstall when it autoruns, either.

What exactly is happening when you try to boot your xp cd?

The drive spins up and then it goes to the XP 64 splash screen.

Are you watching it closely? Xp boot CDs prompt you to press a key, after a couple of seconds they boot the HD instead.

Hrm, I can't see anything, but the display is a bit cockeyed during the boot sequence. Lemme try again.

It'd be safe to tap the spacebar as soon as the drive spins up, repeatedly until something happens.

A genius is you. Spacebar did the trick, XP's installing on my main rig as I type this. Thanks man.

afaik vista 64>xp64 as far as driver issues.
xp64 never really got any attention.

your problems were likely driver related. more work has been done with compatibility and drivers in vista 64 than xp 64.
meaning you would have better luck with vista 64 if you were inclined to run a 64 bit os.
