Is there an easy way to copy what is on a VCR tape to a CD or DVD?

Purchase one of those sony cameras with the DVD drive.
Point it at your TV
Press record
Profit!

Really, can you not just google this? Some of your questions on TnT just borders on moronic.

Of course I can google it. I post here because maybe one of you has used a specific method that is good and easy. There are lots of good and bad ideas on google.

So why have a T&T Forum if everything can be answered by google?

You can get a number of USB devices that basically allow you to plug in anything with RCA jacks.
You then use a capture program to record the signal. Something similar to "Dazzle" which I believe isn't made anymore.

See, that's exactly the point. Your post offers nothing that couldn't be obtained in 10 seconds from google. Now if you had personal experience with such a device, that would be worth posting.

If you had asked, "I've done some looking around and I've found products A, B, and C, which one would suit my needs the most?" I would gladly answer your question.

But your question was more like, "How do I stick tab A into slot B?", which is indeed a moronic question.

So please tell the board what device you've used and whether it was a positive experience. You know... tell us something.

Yeah dammit, there's too much traffic for you to be asking anything like that.

Been away for a bit. "I define t&t traffic?"

I have 1,400 posts in several years of being in here. You have over 28,000 posts. If one was to look through them I would be willing to bet that MOST are of this variety [quoted above] where you add nothing of value, but merely post for the sake of posting.

anyways one easy fairly high quality way to capture ur vcr in through a minidv camera, most have analoge pass threw for captureing.

minidv is a nice format becuz its really ideal for editing,

something like mpg isnt.

unless you have access to a fairly high quality uncommressed capture card i would go with mini dv

imo even when captureing in uncommpressed, chances are the card isnt capable and wont give the real pure uncompreesed quality anyways.

so even captureing in minidv, editing, then converting to mpg for dvd you'll prolly see better quality than a non-production grade card analouge capture.

hope that helped.
