Cirque du Soleil

Went to Cirque du Soleil last Sunday, to their Varekai show. Didn't know what to expect but this is a must see show for everyone. It's just amazing to see how they combine music, dance and neck breaking acrobatics into one show. Some parts are incredibly overwhelming as so many thing happen on the stage at once.
For those who don't know what Cirque du Soleil is, read the
Wikipedia page
If you
search for "Varekai" on YouTube then you'll find a bunch of videos from the show. The Aerial Straps one is pretty impressive, as is the Triple Trapeze one.
Anyone else that has seen this show, or other Cirque shows?

Years back i went with work, one of our managers talked those circus fuckers into giving us free tickets in exchange for free publicity or something. MKJ, were you there also? I forget.
In any case... it was indeed quite spectacular and mindboggling and enormously gay, all at once.

It can't be helped!
PS were the tickets still insanely expensive? I remember they went for like 100 - 150 pieken back in the day, those greedy bastards.

Guyblowki: it was my day off that day, Krijn te gaylord did call me (how did he get my home number anyway) to ask me if I wanted to go regardless.
I also remember why we got those tickets - we made a site for them and when everything was ready to go live, their creative agency called and said we couldnt use any of the photography or colorschemes, only the logo. after some bitching from Leonie they gave us the tickets as 'payment' for our wasted time & effort.
anyways. I went to Saltimbanco a million years ago and saw Varekai this year. thought Saltimbanco was better, more acrobatics and less "look at all the purdy costumes".

Krijn the Gaylord displayed many creepy stalking behaviours near the end of my time at Zonnet...
Ah, yes - that's how it went down, i remember now. I offer this belated statement: you're a fag for not coming.

I went to mystere when I was in Vegas. Easily the most amazing live show I've ever seen. The acrobats in that show were the most agile and fucking insane I've ever witnessed. Very interactive - guys running up the handrails deep into the crowd, people crawling down walls, etc etc etc.
Take in a cirque show anytime you get the chance. Insane production values.

Went with the girlfriend's parents and they payed

But I looked it up and yeah, rank 1 tickets (which is where we sat) cost 70 euros.

Only one I've seen myself. I hear that O, Ka, Love, and La Reve are way better.

Don't think it's a really good comparison. Blue Man Group is completely different from Cirque du Soleil.

If you can go see it.

No we had first rank tickets, which are 70 euros each. Granted, due to the flaky dollar that's just over $100. I'm sure though, that they won't use the actual euro - dollar conversion to determine ticket prices for the US. They don't do that for anything. Usually there's a 1:1 conversion rate used.
Blue Man Group, however, is about 60 dollars for a ticket as far as I could find.
