Upgrading to Vista: is it worth it?

I'm still running 32-bit XP and think it's brilliant. However, I'm thinking about perhaps upgrading to 64-bit Vista to get the most out of my CPU and video card. Is it really worth it? Do games look and perform better in Vista now that the service pack has been out for a while?
I mean I don't really need DX10. For example, I did the cfg hack in Crysis to enable gorgeous DX10 graphics. Gears of War doesn't allow AA with DX9 so I applied it within nHancer to override that.
I'm mostly concerned with drivers, hardware, and applications and whether or not they'll be compatible with Vista.

My specs btw:

Ultra X-Finity 600W
BFG nVidia nForce 680i LT SLI LGA775
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz LGA775 (OCed to 3.2GHz)
XFX 8800GT XT 512MB 640MHz PCI-E DX10 (OCed to 685/1650/950)
2GB OCZ Platinum XTC Rev-2 Dual-Channel Memory (OCed timings to 4-4-4-12)
Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM 16MB cache SATA-II
Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM 16MB cache SATA-II
19" LG L1970HR Flatron Slim 2ms 2000:1 DCR LCD on DVI-D
Logitech X-530 5.1 Surround Sound System
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer 7.1 with EAX HD 5.0
Logitech G5 2nd Revision Gaming Mouse
Coolermaster Centurion 5 case
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
ThermalTake DuOrb VGA Cooler

Any thoughts? Anyone else take the Vista plunge lately?

PS. If I do go ahead with it, is there a way to do it without lengthy reinstalling and redoing configurations or is it basically just a massive reformat?

I've been using vista 64 bit since it came out. I haven't had any issues with drivers or hardware. Some older games don't work but it was the same with XP when it came out.

stick with XP until they no longer support it, then switch. your shit isn't broken.

If you're buying new then Vista 64 is ok. But you won't see better performance in any respect. The benefits right now are negligible. I'm going to revert from a purely Vista 64 system to a dual-boot with XP x32 in the next few days, due to things I can't do on Vista.

vista 64 might be ok, were it not for the fact that most companies dont bother to make a 64bit version of whatever the fuck it is they make.
see tsatziki and his flash problem.

Are you talking about software compiles?

Since x64 OSes run x32 binaries, there's no issue.

Vista is nice and all but XP is just fine too. Either way works Mazda.

drivers, mostly.
collegue of mine bought a computer with XP 64 a while back and he's bumped against multiple hard- and software issues, like simple drivers for his webcam (logitech has no love for 64bit it seems), or the expansions for Oblivion - install only works on 32bit.

This isnt XP 64 launch. Companys are actually making 64 bit drivers for vista.

And the oblivion shit, its bullshit. My fiancee and I both run Vista. her 32 bit me 64 bit. We both have oblivion (and expansions) installed.

Yes, vista is worth it. Faggots and crybabies dont like vista.

lol, nerdrage

QQ

i was illustrating how 64bit windows isnt automatically backwards compatible with 32 bit windows. that there are updates now, is irrelevant.
also, the oblivion mods still dont work on 64, so sayeth bethsoft.
Oblivion content (currently ALL add-ons) are not compatible with 64-bit editions of Microsoft Windows or any version of Windows Vista. When attempting to install the content, an error will appear, and the installer will close. The installer will only function on 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, excluding Windows Vista.
im sure you were able to h4x0r rofl torrent the content, but the casual user doesnt kno nor doesnt have to know how to do this

Still not necessary, Soap.

Hacking up games to force them to run? Why? When i can just FUCKING INSTALL VISTA and not cry like a baby?

If you can run crysis, in "OMFG UBER DETAILS LOL", you should be running vista anyways. You have no reason to be running XP at that point.

Babies, Faggots, Poor people, those are who still run XP. (Home users)

Lol, spend a hundred on a legit copy of vista, or just alter a text file.

Relax gents. The discussion was interesting until Soap's outburst and the posts that followed.
