Vista...moar liek Windows Beta amirite?

So why does Vista look like a horrendous beta OS developed by a bunch of morons?

1. Surround sound. Where the fuck has it gone? Vista has completely done away with any kind of surround upmixing by obliterating DirectSound thanks to its "incredible new audio system". Well isn't that nice, my 5.1 setup is utterly useless now. Kudos
PS. Fuck Creative's ALchemy. It doesn't do shit for movies and music.

2. Ridiculously slow file transfer speeds. I'm talking 3-10MBps file transfer speeds here. It doesn't matter whether files are being transferred from local hard drives, external eSATA, or a DVD - it's unbelievably slow. I've tried everything, from disabling Remote Differential Compression to enabling advanced performance on the drives and selecting a high performance power plan. No change for the better.

Haven't looked into the surround thing.

I just transfered a gig from one drive to another in about 10 seconds. You sure you have sp1?

Yeah, I thought SP1 fixed those file transfer issues.

Positive, I'm also not the only one experiencing the same junk. It's the lack of surround sound that's really annoying me right now :miffed:

lol, Creative. I'm not sure I'd blame Vista for Creative's absolute failure of a track record as far as their driver support goes.

But yeah, Longhorn was promised to be so much more until they ended up cutting out all the "wow" and left it as "meh".

Creative are fucking junk, something thats long held true. That they've held dominance in the sound market for so long is a complete crime. Their other hardware peripherals are likewise shitty, right across the board.

Last week I managed to fix the surround sound and CMSS-3D is once again working. All of my DirectSound3D games are working perfectly with 5.1 sound. Same goes for Winamp. No need for Creative's mediocre ALchemy software which attempts to convert DirectSound to OpenAL, but fails horribly in most cases.

Transfer speeds have gotten better and overall, most of the painful Vista shit has been taken care of. It still doesn't change the fact that Vista failed badly. Hopefully TR Underworld will take advantage of DX10.

No U.

Sound issue is creative. Daniel K drivers fix most of it. Minus the stupid fucking Popping at low frequencies.
File issue, who the fuck knows. I sure dont have that issue.
