Loading Map Pack in Team Arena

OK, I downloaded a few map packs for Quake 3 Team Arena... the problem is they dont show up as some of the available maps in the map selection screen of single player.

I can load them by manually entering /map cas1_ta, but i want them in the main screen.

How can I achieve this?

thanks

Did you click Skirmish? If the .pk3 for the said map is set up correctly, and being it was from a map pack I'm sure they are, that's where you will find them, not in the first Single Player screen.

I am talking about Team Arena... not normal Quake 3. In Team Arena there is no Skirmish option.

the menu is buggy when adding extra maps. you might need to try something like UI Enhanced

OK, this works fine in Normal Quake 3. Is there a different version for Team Arena, as it doesn't load. Or maybe a whole different mod.

thanks

Team Arena is the expansion for Q3A. It has new assets, new maps, new gametypes. You need to buy it if you don't have it.

AFAIK there isn't a version of UIEnhanced for Team Arena because the UI is done is done in a completely different way.

So, is there a way to have the new maps displayed in the create game section? (For Team Arena)

They should be there unless the PK3 for your maps are missing an .arena file. Take it up with the author or make your own (see the stock Team Arena .arena files).

How do I check if there are .arena files? Where are they stored and what do they do?

OK, I have found where the .arena files are... (in the 'scripts' directory.) One of the maps I want to load is called 'schad_ta.bsp'.

Here is the contents of the arena file...

{
map "schad_ta"
longname "Schadenfreude: Team Arena"
type "ctf oneflag harvester overload"
}

Is this correct?

thanks

First off..load up a CTF map or use one of the other team gametypes, when on the map, press ESC, and a menu at the top of the screen will pop up. Click on "callvote" and when the menu pops up from that..click "map", than click on the maps name. There you have it :smirk:

note: If you have too many maps in your baseq3, or missionpack folder, the maps .arena file will not be read. It reads up to like around 50 or a lil less .arena files so...

OK, I load up a tournament game. When the game has started, and I go to the menu... 'Call Vote' is not enabled.

What do I do from here?

Works for me.. do you have g_allowvote set to "0"?

OK, I have set g_allowvote to "0" and to "1" and the 'Call Vote' is still disabled.

seriously, it shouldnt be this hard. if you were able to extract a .arena file, you will also be able to extract the bsp name of the map.

then just go into the console and type /map [bspname without the bsp extension].

e.g. /map shad_ta.
make sure its in the correct gametype, like ctf first.

also, isnt schadenfreude part of the free idsoftware TA mappack?
it should work instantly from the UI. are you sure you installed the pack correctly?

MKJ, /map bspname works... What I want to have is to hve it displayed as one of the maps when you select a level.
