VGA connection to HDTV Problem

So, I am trying to connect an Xbox 360 over VGA to my HDTV (Sony Bravia, KDL-46S4100, 1080p max). The HDTV has a PC-In connection - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15). The cable is DV-15S Standard VGA Connector.
But when I do this, I can see huge green lines moving across the screen, especially if the image on the screen is moving. Looks like image corruption of sorts. There were problems reported with Sony HDTVs over VGA once upon a time but my
360 has the latest dashboard update and the problem was said to have been fixed in 2006.
Other info:
1) The VGA cable itself is fine (looks fine on my PC monitor)
2) HDTV PC-In connector and software is fine (no image corruption when I connect my laptop)
Any ideas what could be causing this? No matter what resolution I choose in the dashboard I get this effect. Also, Component looks ugly as hell on this TV for some reason (massive jaggies, bad black levels, etc.) so that's why I need VGA. Also, my TV has HDMI but my 360 does not.
Anything I can do here to receive the (IMO) superior VGA quality?
