Never works for me. I can't view any pictures that people have uploaded, and currently I can't even upload any. I always get a 'cannot be displayed' page. :(

Start -> run -> CMD
Click on ok,

now type in Ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.

and you should get the message:
Windows IP Configuration

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Now type Exit and press enter and try again.

Also, do you have a modified HOSTS file to stop ad's? or a app like peerguardian?

Thanks amidy, no luck though. Flushing didn't work and peerguardian was and still is uninstalled. I turned ad muncher off as well. My hosts file:

"# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost "

Yep, admuncher definitely shutdown. It doesn't seem to be that affecting anything. Well, we have a positive. Just now, some imageshack images worked ( that didn't work a few days ago) but others don't. Maybe the flushing helped. But for instance, this image that knowfury posted of herself still doesn't work, either in IE or FF. Works from the T-mobile internet on my phone though.

This picture working for you? http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8021 ... 027dx9.jpg

Does anyone have a bunch of random imageshack pictures that you know work that I can test?

Thanks juggy. It's very hit and miss. Your first link doesn't work for me, a few of the images in that thread do work, and a few don't. I don't get it. FF says this about http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3740/desktopdl8.jpg

"The connection has timed out
The server at img228.imageshack.us is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

I don't even know what an alternate DNS server is.

I have a firewall, PC Tools firewall plus, but can't find anything specific to imageshack. What makes this odd is that it's not all or nothing. It seems to work with some images but not for most.

Alternate DNS is the DNS server that your computer will try if it can't resolve a website on your Primary DNS. You will find it in these 2 places:

Image
(control panel, network, properties, tcp/ip properties)

Start, run, cmd, ipconfig /all

indeed, Thanks foo!

also, could you disable the firewall and try again?

Amidy, I disabled the firewall, that didn't help.

Thanks Foo. I brought up the tcp/ip properties dialogue box which looks the same as that screenshot, nothing different about it, says obtain DNS server automatically and obtain ip address automatically. And here is a screenshot of my ipconfig /all cmd. :paranoid:

I'm with virgin media amidy, however, virgin.net used to be part of ntl, and I think virgin media still is.
