Well, I only just now (after a year) discovered that GoDaddy provides a decent list of various content management systems for installation on your domain account (free of charge).

I decided to check out Joomla and so far I'm kind of diggin' it. It's a bit of a hassle to get things set up initially but once everything's in its place updating is a breeze.

I'm just wondering if anybody else uses Joomla for their website(s) and, if so, what are your impressions?

I messed with it and really didnt like the admin menu. way too many options that seemed to conflict or override each other. I ended up using E107 and like it.

From a developer's point of view, i.e. if you want to extend it, it's probably the best pick of the Great Three (Joomla, Drupal and TYPO3*). Don't know about the user's perspective, I only write code for it.

* Disregarding Mambo here; it's probably still a little more widespread than TYPO3 but its usage has been going steadily downhill in the last three years. Google agrees with me: http://www.google.com/trends?q=plone%2C ... all&sort=0

Yeah, I had originally been using Mambo on a different host and I was far from impressed. It was a pain to install and didn't feel very friendly to configure.

Joomla so far does indeed have an interface that seems to lack any type of logic. You would think that you edit the main page (home page) with the main page manager but no; to configure the main page you go into the configuration section for menus.

Yeah...

Anyways, the Joomla community forums are making the learning process much easier and the site is starting to take shape. Still trying to figure why the left pillbox menu is missing the bottom half of it.

Mambo became Joomla. Or am I stating the obvious?

Not quite. Joomla forked from Mambo in 2005. Mambo itself still lives (though barely).
