Quake 3 Nvdia GeForce FX 5200 problem

Hi everybody,

my name is Paolo...i've installed my quake 3 arena game some days ago after i change my video card.

Now i have Nvdia GeForce Fx 5200 under Windows Xp Home and Amd Atlhon xp 2000+ cpu.
When i execute the game the CPU USAGE spin up to 100% and:

1) The intro movie
2) The Menu
3) And the game

GO SO SLOW THAT I HEARD THE SOUND OF MENU LIKE .... ta ta ta ta ta i don't know in english ... but SLOW ... mouse is slow...and i can't play...

so i try to:

1) Update the game with all patches doesn't Work
2) Installing IOQUAKE3 doesn't Work
3) Copile Quake 3 source code dosen't work
4) Try to istall Nvdia (other driver on windows.. dosen't Work
5) Try to install nvdia driver on linux .... FAIL (and i don't know if work)
6) Try to install the game on new Windows xp Pro (don't work)
7) Try to change quake.cfg don't work
8) Try to set all Nvdia parameter to off or low ... don't wokr

have other IDEA or Solutions!?!

i have no intention to change video card!! i have NO MONEY! :)

change desktop color....AND WORK

I doubt changing your desktop colour actually made a difference one way or another. It was probably something else, like you needed a reboot or something. But whatever, don't question the computer gremlins when they swing in your favour.

Yes, changing desktop colour will have made a rather large difference since the code was now processing every image before rendering.
