Hi Guys, really need some help. I've got a DLINK wifi here at home - me and my bro tried playing quake3 on it(ordinary LAN multiplayer) and the server doesnt get the lags but sees the opponent disappear every now and then - but the one who just joined the game keeps on getting "CONNECTION INTERRUPTED" every now and then. I've tried increasing the maxfps of both to 125 - but still the same. hoping you can help me. thanks! - i also noticed some LAGS happening with warcraft 3 and counterstrike - but its manageable. thanks! hoping for some help.

Start

Run

ping -t google.com
Start the game, play for a few minutes. Do the hiccups show up in the ping log?

Also check the frequency of the ping spikes. If you're using the default Windows Zero Configuration wireless monitor, it stops to scan for new available wireless networks about once a minute which will cause a ping spike. So if you notice high pings once a minute in regular intervals, disable WZC and try a third party one. I'm using Linksys cards and my laptop has an Atheros card, both companies have their own wireless network monitor software.

tell your buddies to limit their frames per second to 125
if i recall they should try cl_maxfps 125
they probably have cl_maxfps 0 .. which causes lots of data to be sent and received.
you can see this in the lagometer .. disconnection icon flashing every second or so
