And by "we" I mean the people of this forum. We may need to have someone step up that has the skills and financial support to create a forum for when this place eventually kicks the bucket. If we made it a general gaming community, then we could maybe even pick up some new members and it could become quite active. We could even allow some members to join that aren't welcome here by some. I'm just trying to get this idea going. Cause if we don't do something, when the time comes, there won't be any place to go...

What do you guys think? Any ideas?

Yes it has and some of us did end up somewhere I recall when the place died back then Thankfully someone rebuilt our home

there are tons of free forums out there
free forum + adblock = done

Setting up a phpBB isn't exactly rocket science, and all we'll need for a migration is a backup of the database and the custom theme, icons and buttons.

IGN backs these up regularly so it's not likely for anything to really happen.

there are plenty of people here with the skills/resources to set up a new site/new site from a backup - but if we start worrying about this sort of thing before it happens, it'll become a self-fulfilling prophesy and fragment the community (GD/TV anyway) into 2 or more even smaller clusters of curmudgeonly old fucks, shut-ins and weirdos.
