Final version of the Quake 3 map that I've been working on. It is called Battleforged.

Description/excessive exposition:

Battles are won and lost every day on both macro and epic scales. In these
discords there are only three true constants: The disgrace of defeat, the ever
present hope of glory to be had, and the arena in which these battles are
waged.
Stained with blood and tears, hallowed by sorrow and the thrill of victory alike,
it is within these fire-forged walls that the weak inevitably succumb and where
mighty champions are thrust into the status of legend.


The map is setup for Tournament and Free For All, and the bots Sarge and Stripe
have been included.

Keeeewwwwwwlllll!!!!

Was wondering when this was gonna see the light of day. And may I say you've done the place up real nice ... yes sirree you have :)

I still think the teleporter inside the mega-health should be a normal one like the one by the yellow armour up to the Railgun, so you can see into the mega-health pit but not back out of it. (I know it's the evil streak in me >:D )

I say you're pretty much ready to wrap this puppy up cause she's looking and playing sliky smooth fine. Looking forward to seeing it go official. :up:

Cool map, very nice for having no custom content! Haven't played it with any human yet though.

Stairs. I think this goes for all stairs.

Ceiling is pretty cool with that scrolling texture, to bad the angled lamp cut's it. Maybe you can work around this.

I don't think those pipes fit at all...

I have a bunch more, but I don't think it's stuff that really matter... small graphical stuff.

Ian: Thanks man. Glad you like it. I think I'm going to stick with the two-way TP. A lot of ppl seem to like it and I love the whole "wormhole" aspect of having both of them the same. I appreciate all of the suggestions you have given for this map. :)

Hipshot: Man, you don't mess around do you? Thanks for being so thorough! I'll be sure to fix these things before the final version.

Not sure how to remedy the shadows on the lights. I haven't messed with it a whole lot, but it seemed pulling the lightsource away from the wall didn't help much. Any ideas?

re: teleporter, that's kewl. Just looking forward to the final :)

If you have any luck with the lights, let me know.. I had the same issue with The Rage. It'd be nice to know how to solve it.

Very Nice! Almost forgot about this one :rolleyes:

Since everything has pretty much been said already, I just wanted to say that it's nice to see that your still working on it. :D A Q3 Map!!

Ian: I was able to fix those light model shadows after all. Just tag the models with the key/value pair _castshadows 0 to prevent them from casting shadows. Just don't slip up like I did and tag your worldspawn with it :dork:

i think you need add 1 or 2 extra 25hp and rework spawns!

extone: Thanks for reminding me about the spawns. I've replaced/moved a few of them. They probably aren't perfect, but they're better than they were.

Battleforged has been released. See first post for release information.

Changes for final:

Graphical tweaks and enhancements.
Tweaked player spawns.
Replaced the 25 health in the 45 degree hall close to RL with a 50.
Added another health shard in the hall between the RA and the LG.
Added MG ammo in RA room.
Fixed some bugs and glitches.
Added a couple of clips.

Hey, wow, thanks a lot guys.

I'll take this opportunity to let everyone know that I have changed the download link to point to the revised version of the map (which should finally be...well, final.) :) The first map apparently had a texture that was in the mapmedia pack but not in the original game, so that issue has now been remedied. Since I was reworking the pk3 anyway, I decided to put in another two 25 health bubbles to hopefully please the competitive crowd.

The original has been taken off of my site, and the new file has been appended with _rev. It can also be found on lvlworld

Nice! A bit dark tho, at least on my monitor compared to the maps I played recently. To make gameplay more interesting, the amount of health perhaps could've been lower.
